Who We Are

Barnstormers Flying Club has its origins in South Africa in the late 1980s, formed by a group of young pilots who wanted to fly to exotic destinations in the African Bushveld — and have a lot of fun in doing so.

We carry forward the spirit of the original barnstormers: the pure joy of flight, shared with others.

The Spirit of the Club

Flying for Fun

Our founding principle: aviation is not just flying — it is an experience, an adventure, a joy to be shared with fellow enthusiasts.

Exploring Africa

From Botswana’s bushveld to the Eastern Transvaal escarpment, our fly-aways have taken us to the most spectacular corners of southern Africa.

The Bateleur Spirit

Our logo is the Bateleur Eagle — Africa's symbol of strength, courage, and aerobatic freedom. Its spirit is the essence of Barnstorming.

“Pilots of today’s Barnstormers Flying Club embellish the spirit of the original Barnstormers — that of flying for the pure joy of flight and sharing this experience with others.”
